Friday Night At Breakwaters
Friday 7/9/06 was our only Friday gig at Breakwaters this summer. The first two sets we were in the direct sun. This is a hard way to play, but it leads to a carefree delirium which if fun.
Allen was feeling sporty, and, was playing some fantastic fills and turnarounds
Many old friends were there to spur us on.
Tom and Christina were dancing and smiling.
Annie showed up towards the end. I was playing the rubboard right in front of her, watching her dance, we were sharing the dance.
Mark Lavoie was there saying we were sounding great. We talked to him about sitting in...but he went to have dinner and we never saw him again. He is now the only harp/harmonica player that we would consider sitting in.
Several other people (strangers) were asking about sitting in. I thought to myself about what it takes to get this gig and keep the band going. This venue is too important to us to hand over our air time to just anybody. Usually we are happy to let someone give it a shot. Just not at our only club gig in the big town.
The sunset was big and firey colors caused by drifting smoke from Saskatchewan wildfires. Beautiful!
Shrimp...Delicious!
