Burlington Community Land Trust Fund Raiser Lake Cruise

7/15/06 Well...the action began before we left the dock. The band was setting up and the party goers were having cocktails and  hors 'douvers. Across the deck people began calling for medical assistance and if anyone new the Heimlich Manouver. A woman was choking. Quickly people gathered around and one person began to attempt the manouver, without success. This is when Lee stepped in and with one quick shot dislodged the obstruction.

The rest of the evening was very pleasant. We had dinner on the rear deck while cruising Wilsboro bay. The band enjoyed a good number of dancers and people were friendly. However, nothing during the evening would top Lees heroic action. Well done man!

Zydeco in Grand Isle, Vermont

Friday June 30

This gig was a dream...the people, the setting the shrimp! We were at the Lake House in Grand Isle...set up on the porch facing the lawn and the lake.

Photographer Daria Bishop has a wonderful description of the scene and some beautiful pics on her blog...

Friday Night At Breakwaters

Friday 7/9/06 was our only Friday gig at Breakwaters this summer. The first two sets we were in the direct sun. This is a hard way to play, but it leads to a carefree delirium which if fun.

Allen was feeling sporty, and, was playing some fantastic fills and turnarounds

Many old friends were there to spur us on.

Tom and Christina were dancing and smiling.

Annie showed up towards the end. I was playing the rubboard right in front of her, watching her dance, we were sharing the dance.

Mark Lavoie was there saying we were sounding great. We talked to him about sitting in...but he went to have dinner and we never saw him again. He is now the only harp/harmonica player that we would consider sitting in.

Several other people (strangers) were asking about sitting in. I thought to myself about what it takes to get this gig and keep the band going. This venue is too important to us to hand over our air time to just anybody. Usually we are happy to let someone give it a shot. Just not at our only club gig in the big town.

The sunset was big and firey colors caused by drifting smoke from Saskatchewan wildfires. Beautiful!

Shrimp...Delicious!
